Though there’s still the big three to go (hurray for the end of MFW!), the S/S 15 DIORALOP collection (by duo Andreja Bistricic and Maja Merlic) shown at LFW Fashion Scout is by far my favorite. I’d even venture to say that it’s going to retain that spot, no matter what Paris brings. The slits, cutouts, weaving, and overall geometrical stiffness of the pieces are beautifully but subtly softened by the tattoo-/chemical-spill-inspired monochrome prints and overly-gelled curls (i.e. one of my favorite previous-life hairstyles), making the collection’s aesthetic an incredibly successful avant garde/androgynous hybrid. Even the Queen Michelle-worthy creepers, chunky/rubberized zippers, and deconstructed bicep jewelry are just spot on. Two of the looks in particular (first two above) are so perfect, that they deserve full coverage via UK Vogue‘s zoom feature. The jaggedness from the 4-part zoom screen capture even fits the whole feel of the collection. Sigh. Andreja and Maja, bravo.
